A Catholic Web Quest for students (Grades 4-5)

STUDENT OUTCOMES: Students will

  1. Understand how the three days - Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday are all connected, and celebrate the joy of the Cross.
  2. Create a Powerpoint/KidPix presentation of the last three days of the life of Jesus.
  3. Reflect on each event and how it prepares us for the resurrection and celebration of Easter.
INTRODUCTION: The Easter Triduum is the greatest celebration of the year. It is during these three days that we remember Jesus' passing from death to new life. The Triduum begins on Holy Thursday and ends on the evening of Easter Sunday.

TASK: With a partner, you will enter a Time-Travel machine and go back to the last three days of Jesus living on this earth. You will observe the events of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, and create a presentation to share with your classmates. Let's begin our journey!

PROCEDURE:

Holy Thursday: Learn about the origins and traditions of Maundy Thursday.

Read the events of the Last Supper.

Now discover more details of the Last Supper by reading and discussing this story with your partner.

Good Friday: View each Station of the Cross and then use a Bible to complete the Good Friday Word Search online.

Holy Saturday: Read the 'Easter Vigil' section.

Unscramble the online Triduum Worksheet
